Robert L. “Bob” Callahan Jr., age 72, of Erie, passed away, Sunday September 25, 2016 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on October 4, 1943 in Erie, son of the late Robert L. and Viola Melito Callahan, Sr.
Bob graduated from McDowell High School and was a journeyman tool and die maker. He retired September 1st from Matrix Tool, where he had worked for many years.
He loved working on his home and yard; was an avid skier and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was a Jeep enthusiast. Bob liked going to the shooting range and reloading his own shells. His greatest loves were his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Karen L. Callahan in November 2015 and a daughter, Kristen Lee.
He is survived by three children: Jeffrey (Erin) Callahan, Jennifer (James) Bean, and Lee (Jacob) Sack, all of Erie; and five grandchildren: Devin and Jordan Callahan, Jesse and Joseph Bean and Kelsey Sack.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, 602 W. 10th St. and attend a time of sharing there on Thursday at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
