Robert Bindeman

Robert L. Bindeman, "Bobby B.", age 70 of Erie, passed onto eternal life on Wednesday March 13, 2013. Jesus has welcomed him with open arms. Born in Rochester, NY on September 27, 1942, Bob was the son of the late John H. and Dorothy Weinheimer Bindeman. His family then moved to Erie.

Robert was a graduate of East High School, Class of 1960 and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Bay of Pigs. He started in truck and tire sales and service with B.F. Goodrich, working with his father. He later went on to work for Ross and Copus for 25 years, TPS Distributing and Five Star International. He would talk to anyone and always wanted to lend a hand and help those in need.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Bindeman; a brother, John H. Bindeman, II; and a sister, Dorothy Bindeman.

He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Joan D. Hartner Bindeman; his four children, Janice Innis and her husband Jeffrey, of Gambrills, MD; James Bindeman and his wife, Kathleen, of Erie; Laura Bindeman, of Erie; and Brenda Stepniak and her husband Michal, of North East. He is further survived by four grandchildren; Matthew and Katherine Stepniak and Trevor and Tyler Innis; and his sister, Sandra Brown and her husband William; of Erie.

Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Road, on Friday March 15 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm and are invited to attend services at the funeral home's All Faith's Chapel on Saturday at 12 noon with the Reverend Patrick Lennox, of Glenwood United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
