Robert Baumann, Sr.

May 30, 1960 — April 10, 2021

Robert Eugene Baumann, Sr., age 60, of Millcreek, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital.

He was born in Erie on May 30, 1960 a son of the late Fred and Julie Baumann.

Robert graduated from McDowell High School in 1978 and worked at Bob Ferrando Ford in Auto Sales for 32 years.

To those who do not know Robert Baumann, Sr., known to some as Dad, he was one of the greatest human beings to walk this earth. He lived a life of love, passion, wit and humor.  His stories would generate belly laughs among many, quickly followed by an eye-roll and “Dad, shut up!” from his children.

Through the tears and hardship, Robert spent his remaining days surrounded by his closest loved ones.  His sister Bonnie, who was the target for most of his shenanigans (but God help if anyone else picked on her.) His brother Al, who he respected (and feared) more than anyone. His brother-in-law, John often referred to as “Fred’s dream son.”  His nephews (Alex, Derek, Lars, Carl and Evan) who constantly entertained his spur-of-the-moment debates and would say, “Robbie, why can’t you be more like them?” His sister-in-law, Aimee, whom he always admired her class and elegance.  His children’s mother, Crystal who was “the best person in the whole world.”   Lastly, his children, who had the pleasure of speaking on the phone with him 32 times per day.  We are left with some peace knowing that he will finally be able to join his parents and laugh again with his best friend and brother Larry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Baumann.

He is survived by a daughter, Ryanne E. Baumann, a son, Robert E. Baumann, Jr., both of Chicago, IL, a sister, Bonnie (John) Wieczorek, a brother, Alan M. (Denise) Baumann both of Erie and a sister-in-law, Aimee Baumann.  Several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins also survive.

In honor of him- talk to a stranger, share life advice to your family, binge watch 5 movies in a row, make a joke and remember to tell someone, “I love you so much it makes me sick.”
