Robert Bartlett

December 24, 1925 — June 29, 2013

Robert “Bob” Kenneth Bartlett, age 87 of Millcreek, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, which is also his mother’s Birthday.

He was born in Ashtabula, OH on December 24, 1925, he later learned that this was the very same date upon which his wife’s parents were married. Bob always was a very careful planner !

He was the son of the late Kenneth A. Bartlett and Florence Stewart Bartlett Stafford. Bob attended Ashtabula Schools and graduated from Academy High School in Erie. He then served in the United States Air Force. He had many stories to share about the foreign countries he saw during his tour. When he returned home he attended Gannon University and earned his bachelor’s degree. He worked for Beck Shoes, General Contractors, Sperry-Univac (later Unysis) where he was a field engineer. After his retirement Bob was actively involved with the Erie Chapter of the American Red Cross.

He loved meeting and helping people, and his volunteer work took him to may disaster sites around the Country. Bob and his wife Rosalind loved to travel, and they visited every corner of the US and many places in Canada. They participated in countless elder hostels learning new skills and seeing amazing wildlife and natural beauty. He had a deep passion for music, especially Big Band and Jazz. He and Rosalind had their first date at a dance held at Rainbow Gardens. Bob also loved playing golf. He shared the links with a special group of buddies, including Jack and Jimmie ( he loved you guys). He enjoyed watching golf tournaments on TV and visiting Augusta for the Masters Tournament. Bob joins his beloved wife Rosalind Nichols Bartlett, who passed away January 9, 2011, whom he married August 18, 1951.

He was brother to Eileen Donnell; Shirley and John Strokes, half brother to Nancy Rush; Connie Hoteling; step brother to Lois Zilhaver, and Norma Jean.Additionally, he is survived by his children Laurie Stephenson of Littleton, CO; Craig and Mary Bartlett of Fairview; Jane and Carl Burrows of Meadville; his grandchildren: Tanner Stephenson, David Bartlett, Lainey Crawley, Elliot Burrows, and Olivia Burrows; great-grandsons: Aiden Bartlett, Gary Schumann, and Aaron Burrows; step grandchildren: Melvin Burrows, Misty Clepper, Joseph Mando, Gretchen Mando; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. Erie on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. and may attend services at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wednesday at 11am. with Rev. Kimberly Saylor officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.

Bob was grateful to spend his final days at home with his loving son and daughter in law, Craig and Mary. He loved and appreciated his hospice team at Asera Care, especially Marian.
