Robert Jay Adams, age 82 of McKean, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Fairview, on May 5, 1934, a son of the late John Carl and Alice Peterson Adams.

Bob graduated from Millcreek High School in 1952 and proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in England and Germany. Bob was the owner and operator of Adams Collision Service. After retiring, he drove school bus for the General McLane School District.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the St Francis Usher’s Club in McKean. Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing, spending time outdoors, and working around the house. He enjoyed his family and was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bob always had a twinkle in his eye.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John “Jack” Adams, Richard Adams, and Gerald Adams.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years,, Margaret Ann Schirmer Adams, whom he married in 1962; their five children, Robert J. Adams, Jr. of Edinboro, Beth Zewe (Michael) of Cranesville, Amy Gierlak (Daniel) of Edinboro, Laurie Pieffer (Eric) of Edinboro, and Patricia Adams ( Lee Farley )of Cranesville; 17 grandchildren: Jacob Adams (Jenna), Jacklyn Adams, Thomas Adams, Megan Kissman (Jamie), Michelle Markley (David), Matthew Zewe, Alexandria Gierlak, Joseph Gierlak, Lauren Gierlak, Noah Pfeiffer, Gabriel Pfeiffer, Hanna Pfeiffer, Samuel Ponsford, Alison Watkins, Kennedy Watkins, Benjamin Watkins, and Emalee Farley; three great grandchildren: Sophie Kissman, Kiele Kissman, and Colt Adams; a brother, Thomas Adams of Florida and a sister, Audree Adams of Erie; sisters in law, Carol Adams of McKean and Shirley Adams of Fairview. He is further survived by many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave), Erie on Monday from 4-7pm and are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 8880 Main St, McKean, PA 16426 with Celebrant Fr. Mark Nowak. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Crossingville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regional Home Health and Hospice, 2564 Village Common Dr, Erie, PA 16506 or to St. Francis Xavier Church. A special thank you to Hospice: Tracy, Ray, Diane and the many others that took such great care of Bob.
