Rita M. (Dandrea) Masi, age 85, of Erie, passed away on February 27th at Westlake Woods, surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born on June 12, 1937, in Uniontown, PA., a daughter of the late James and Eva (Delligatti) Dandrea.
Rita graduated from Uniontown Joint Senior High School in 1955. After high school, she worked at a car dealership in the accounting department. In 1959 she moved to Erie, PA and she later began working at WSEE and became the first woman comptroller at the TV Station. She retired from WSEE in 2003.
First and foremost, Rita was a loving and devoted mother, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, reading and getting her hair done. She was also a member of Holy Cross Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Evelyn Mozur, Lois Monahan, brothers, Donald “Duke” Dandrea, James Dandrea Jr., Peter Dandrea, brothers-in-law, Richard Mozur, Dwain Monahan, Henry DeCarlucci and great-grandson Jack Kowalski.
Rita is survived by her children, Robert (Deborah) Masi and Paula Kennelley, both of Erie. She is further survived by her granddaughter, Nicole (Michael) Kowalski of Erie; Sister Marie DeCarlucci of Erie, two sisters-in-laws, Bonnie Dandrea of Erie, and Laverne Dandrea of Valdosta GA; and many nieces and nephews.
A special extension of gratitude and appreciation is given for the care and support provided by the staff of Hospice and Westlake Woods Assisted Living.
No services will be held at this time. Arrangements were under the care of the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street, Erie, Pa 16506.
