Rita Margaret Kaiser Glover, age 93, of Erie died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital following a short illness. She was born December 24, 1922 in Erie the daughter of the late John L. and Marjorie VanZandt Kaiser.
Rita was a graduate of Academy High School and had attended Gannon College. She served with the WAVES during WW II having been based in Washington, D.C. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and later St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church along with being active with the Villa Maria Academy PTA where her four daughters graduated. Rita was active with the Millcreek AARP and also enjoyed people, whether it was gatherings at holiday time or family picnics or reunions. Time spent with her family made her the happiest.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Thomas W. Glover; a sister, Madeline Belton; brothers John, Francis, Edward, Thomas, and Ronald Kaiser and son-in-law, Alan Hartley.
Rita is survived by her children Sheila D’Ammassa and her husband Donald of East Providence, RI; Deborah Salamon and her husband Joseph of Erie; Thomas Glover of Erie; Rebecca Glover and her husband Ralph Bathelt of Massena, NY and Michelle Hartley of Fairview. She is the sister of Ann Marie Bolash, Vitus J. Kaiser, and Gerald Kaiser along with 11 grandchildren; Algernon D’Ammassa; Joseph, Jillian, & Janelle Salamon; Christopher, Joshua, & Kaitlyn Glover; Jennifer Bathelt; Douglas, Kelley, & Brittany Hartley. She is further survived by 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Thursday at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery.
