Rita Brown Herold

Rita Brown Herold, of Erie, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at UPMC Hamot Hospital at the age of 95.  

She was born in Pittsburgh PA on April 3, 1928, a daughter of the late Francis & Ella Mae Guenther Brown.  

Rita was a graduate of East High School and worked for Bliley Electric in payroll and Erie Insurance for 19 years as a Customer Service Cashier before her retirement in 1991.  Rita was a former Elder at First Christian Church as well as a Sunday school teacher and board secretary. More recently, she was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Herold; her daughter, Rita Daniel Russell and her siblings, Donald Brown, Norma Ragels and Verna Hess.  

She is survived by her children, Nancy Herold, of Erie and Donald (Jane) Herold, of Chino Hills, CA; brother, Thomas Martin, of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Bryan (Katie) Daniel, of Duluth, GA, Kara (Mary) Daniel, of Gahanna, OH, Ryan (Felicia) Herold, of Huntington Beach, CA, Erin (Erdem) Herold, of Utrecht, Netherlands, Sharon (Tom) Schneider, of Pittsburgh, PA and Trina (Ryan) Hayes and great-grandchildren, Alex, Jakob, Max, Nicholas, Timothy and Sadie. 

Family and friends are invited to call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th Street, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until Time of Sharing at 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be held in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
