Rita Brown

Rita F. Brown age 79, of Erie, passed away quietly at home on Sunday January 22, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born in Erie, PA on August 13, 1937, a daughter of the late Jack and Margaret Kinkade Magee. Rita was a graduate of Academy High School and worked for many years at Waldameer Amusement Park and then Van Dekamps. She loved playing bingo and doing crafts as well as reading. Her greatest love however was her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia “Patty” Wells in 2015 and her beloved husband Louis Brown just four months ago along with two sisters; Mary Long and Freda Bretz. Rita is survived by six children and one son-in-law; Jeff Wells along with Sharon Wells (Donald) of Erie, Judy Stanko (George) also of Erie, Diane Flinchbaugh (Brian) of York, PA, Bob Brown (Jill) of Erie, Bill Brown (Kim) of Erie and Christine Brown of Erie. Rita is further survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren along with a brother Duane Magee of Pensacola, FL. Many good friends will also miss her. Friends may call at Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, PA 16510 on Wednesday from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm and are invited to a funeral service there on Thursday at 11:00 am with the Reverend Rick Cepris officiating.
