Richard Zimmerman

Richard A. Zimmerman, age 64, of Erie, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. Vincent Health Center.

He was born in Erie on November 25, 1949 son of the late Julia Lewandowski and William H. Zimmerman. Richard graduated from Strong Vincent High School, served in the United States Army and retired as a City of Erie police officer, serving 26 years. He was a member Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed motorcycles and riding his Harley Davidson, attended many baseball games and was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Cleveland Indians. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother William Zimmerman.

He is survived by a son, Michael Zimmerman and his wife Jennifer of Erie, a daughter, Renee Coon and her husband William of Carlisle, PA, a granddaughter Jordan and three grandsons Ryan, Ashton and Channing.

Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 1:00pm, at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 1626 West 26th Street, with Rev. Msgr. William Biebel officiating.

Private interment in Erie County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
