Richard E. “Dick” Waldo age 68, of Erie, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Erie, PA on June 27, 1947 a son of the late Howard and Margaret Ann Cooney Waldo.
He was a student at Girard High School and worked 37 years at the General Electric Plant in Erie. In retirement he enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, and scratching his instant tickets. He also entertained himself with his comfortable chair and TV. His greatest quality was putting others before himself.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Marvin, Gary, Thomas and Ronald Waldo, and twin grandsons.
Along with his wife of 47 years, Deanna Schoening Waldo, he is survived by six children: Sharon and Salena Waldo of Erie, Carrie Brunecz (Kevin), Jennifer Gillespie (Devin), Holly Waldo (Pedro Rodriguez) and Richard Waldo (Desiree) also all of Erie. He also leaves six grandchildren: Tamara, Kaleb, Mariah, Ivan, Alex and Ronan all of Erie. Two sisters, Jacqueline M. Anderson (Charles) and Laurie Fenstermacher (David) also survive along with two brothers; David Waldo of Erie and James Waldo (Kim) of Texas; sister-in-law Janet Waldo of Erie. Many nieces, nephews and cousins survive along with many friends.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Thursday from 1:00 pm till 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm till the time of services at 7:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to the DaVita Dialysis Center of Erie, 1641 Sassafras Street, Erie, Pa. 16502, and the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th Street, Erie PA 16505.
Dick’s family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and staff at DaVita for their loving care given to their loved one over an extended time.
