Richard H. Van Horn, age 93, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at LECOM at Village Square. He was born July 13, 1927 in Bedford County, PA son of the late Reverend Marshall and Alma Barker Van Horn. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the 20th Air Force on the island of Guam. A graduate of Bliss Electrical School, he worked for Penelec for 39 years and retired as Superintendent of the Electrical Equipment Department. He was a member of the Lawrence Lodge No. 708, F. and A.M. of Pennsylvania, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Erie as well as Westminster Presbyterian Church. Richard also was a volunteer at the West Millcreek Food Pantry for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Van Horn who passed just a week ago and a daughter, Deborah Van Horn Reitz.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Van Horn of Erie and Stephen (Denise) Van Horn and their daughter Stephanie of Cranberry, PA; one daughter, Sandra and her son Khristian (Weilacher) Van Horn of Hartford, CT.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
