Richard Riesdorph

February 12, 1945 — December 29, 2018

Richard ‘Dick” John Riesdorph, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2018 in a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Erie on February 12, 1945 to the late Ross B. and Isabel Duke Riesdorph.

He graduated from McDowell High School and was a career welder at Riley Power, from which he retired. Starting at a young age, Dick began taking joy in all outdoor activities. He could regularly be found setting an anchor off his boat, Orphy, at Beach 11 and enjoying Presque Isle bay on beautiful, sunny days out of the Commodore Perry Yacht Club. He made his home near Scott Park so that the lake would be close by. On weekends, he enjoyed perusing classic cars and sharing stories of days past.

He was also a member of numerous other clubs including the Cascade Club and Sportsman Athletic Club, where he commiserated with fellow fans of his beloved Cleveland Browns.  He was blessed to have witnessed their turnaround before his untimely death.

His greatest source of happiness was spending time with his son, Adam (Courtney), and his grandson Matthew Riesdorph. He is further survived by his daughter Hope Welton (Tyson) Papucci and their children Alec, Leah and Mya Papucci and his great granddaughter Madilyn Papucci; brother Eugene (Linda) Riesdorph and sister Gloria (Don) Hosford. He was proceeded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Westlake Funeral Home. 3801 West 26th Street.
