Richard C. Onslow, age 86, of Erie passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born February 25, 1930 in Erie the son of the late Everett and Marsadis Horak Onslow.
Richard was a 1948 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and had served with the US Army 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he worked at Erie’s General Electric and later with Seaway Aluminum where he retired in1992 as plant superintendant.
Richard was a member of St. Andrew Catholic church and was a past president of the St. Andrew Athletic Association. He also held memberships with the East Erie Turners, Cascade club, St. Mary’s club, Siebenbuerger club, and Roger Israel American Legion post.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Holman Onslow who died in 2014; a grandson, Dylan Ballman, and two sisters; Rita Zuber and Rose Therese Ives.
Richard is survived by his children; Richard Onslow and his wife Patricia of Erie; Ronald Onslow and his wife Marge of Stonecreek, OH; Denise Onslow of Erie, and Jennifer Hewitt and her husband Jack of Erie. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
