Richard Meyer

Richard H. Meyer, age 82, of Rotonda West, Florida and formerly of Erie, PA, died at his home on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Born June 24, 1930 in Erie, he was a son of the late Melvin S. Meyer and Virginia C. Knobloch. Rich served in the U.S. Navy and after his military service he worked with his father and grandfather at A.E. Meyer Plumbing. He later worked for the state of Pennsylvania as a mechanical inspector retiring in 1995. After retirement, he was a Walmart greeter and worked part time at Perry Plaza Bowling. He enjoyed bowling, rooting for the N.Y. Yankees, riding around Presque Isle and looking for deer.

In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by a step brother, Thomas A. Knobloch. He is survived by his wife, Carol M. Meyer of Rontonda West, FL; seven children: Keith Meyer (Carol Jean), Karen Cabaday, Kevin Meyer (Melissa), Kathy Greer (Thomas), Kris Meyer, Karla Shingledecker (Rick Snyder) and Kenneth Meyer (Nina); four stepchildren: Annette Tucholski, Michelle Humphries (Kevin), Yovonne Fogle (Jay), and Michael Nero (Bernadette); a brother: James P. Meyer (Carol J.); a step sister, Patsy Knobloch; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on November 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the East Erie Assembly of God, 3290 Saltsman Road, Erie, with Pastor Clifford Hamilton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arms Outstretched Ministry, 1 Greenridge Drive, Stafford, VA 22554.
