Richard Macisaac

December 31, 1956 — November 29, 2016

Richard S. MacIsaac age 60, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born in Erie on June 13, 1956 a son of the late George V. and June Parry MacIsaac.

He graduated from McDowell High School class of 1974 and then went on to graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Psychology.

Rich was a family man and everyday was devoted to his wife, daughter, brothers and sister. Rich was looking forward to the birth of his granddaughter in January.

When Rich was young, he loved playing sports, especially football and baseball. He was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan and he served as the commissioner for his family fantasy football league. He also loved his dogs Chloe and Lacey. Rich was very courageous during the many years of his illness.

In March of 2005, Rich was given the ultimate gift when he received his double lung transplant. This generous gift allowed him many years to enjoy his family and witness many milestones, such as proudly walking his daughter down the aisle in 2012. He knew that his extra years came upon another family’s tragedy, which is why he made the most of every extra minute he was given, and was always and eternally grateful.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Hoyt.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara J. Perry MacIsaac; a daughter, Kailey (Greg) Tarbell of Erie; three brothers, Cary MacIsaac, Robert (Dana) MacIsaac and their son Brian, and Steve MacIsaac; a sister, Kimberly (Jamie) Schertzer and their daughter Noelle; mother and father in law, James and June Perry; brothers and sisters- in- law; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
