Richard King Limburg age 74, of Erie passed away quietly on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at LECOM Senior Living Center in Erie. A native of Pendleton, SC born on March 31st, 1943. Son of the late William (PFC USMC) and Florence King Limburg. Richard was a 1962 Graduate of Pendleton High School and worked as a communications engineer with the phone company over 40+ years of its iterations, finally retiring in 1998 from Verizon. A leader in his community, he strived to be a role model and always lend a helping hand to one in need. Putting his carpenter skills to use to help others was a favorite hobby and activity. An avid outdoorsman he also enjoyed celebrating nature at the beach as well as the mountains. He often found comfort in the Serenity Prayer and put its guiding principles to use as a mentor.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife Theresa Wise Limburg and a brother Bob Sharp. He is survived by two children, Ric Limburg (Sharon) of Stuart, VA and Renee Rutledge of Dothan, AL, along with four step children; Susan Wise, Mike Wise, Jeff Wise and Nancy Wise-Klemens. Also surviving are six grandchildren and two sisters: Jan Woodson (Jimmy) and Nancy (Grady) Ellison both of Anderson, SC.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Thursday from 5:00 pm till the time of services there at 7:00 pm with Reverend Charles Cammarata officiating.
