Richard J Liebel, age 94, of Millcreek Twp, passed away on Tuesday March 14, 2023, in his residence at St Mary’s Asbury Ridge following a short illness.
Born on August 17, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph X.and Kathryn (Cavanaugh) Liebel.
Richard (Dick) was a 1946 graduate of Cathedral Prep High School and attended Gannon University for 2 years before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. He went on to be employed at EE Austin for over 35 years until his retirement. Upon retirement he enjoyed many years volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Erie Food Pantry, and was especially proud of his decades of singing and entertaining with the Four Men of Song, the Sportsman’s Club Quartet, the Mannechor Choristers and the Danish Club Choristers. He was a wonderful dad, grandpa, and great grandpa.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jeannine (Faulkner) Liebel, a son Richard J Liebel Jr, a grandson Robert Dixon Jr, and three son-in-laws, Jeffrey A Baker, Robert Dixon Sr. and Albino Sigua.
He is survived by three daughters, Janice Baker-Carangi (Tom), Carolyn Dixon and Cheryl Mazurak (Mike), grandchildren Kelli Phillips (Don), Scott Baker Hoffman(Dakota), Reaud Dixon (Karlie), Braden Sigua and Malelea Mazurak. He is also survived by one great grandson, Elliot Fay and two great great grandchildren, Isabella Dixon and soon to be born Ares Dixon.
Per dads wished there was no visitation or service, he will simply join our mom at Trinity Cemetery at a future date. A heartfelt Thankyou to the staff at Asbury Ridge for their love and caring for dad over the last five years and to UPMC Family Hospice for their help in dads final few months.
