Richard J.T. “Pert” Coursey, age 90, of Millcreek, passed away Friday October 19, 2018 at the VA Medical Center, Erie.
He was born in Erie on April 24, 1928 son of the late James E. and Anna G. Kapsar Coursey.
He attended Millcreek High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard was a painter and worked with his father at James E. Coursey and Sons Painting and also worked for other local contractors. He was a member of the Painters Union Local #549.
He was also a member of St. Julia Roman Catholic Church, Millcreek Legion Post #773 and V.F.W. Post #470.
Richard enjoyed bingo, garage sales and walking on the beach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Corapi Coursey a granddaughter Monika Owens, a sister Rita Agresti and a brother, James W. Coursey.
He is survived by three daughters, Cathy Coursey Schermer, Carolyn Coursey Owens both of Erie, Debby (Joe) Coursey Cooney of Harrisburg, PA; two sons, Michael and Richard (Julie) Coursey; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 until 10:30 am at Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Julia RC Church, (West Lake Road at Powell Ave).
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
