Richard “Dick” Hamilton Brown age 93 of Erie, passed away Sunday morning, October 8, 2017 in the comfort of his home of 93 years.
He was born in Erie, PA June 12, 1924, a son of the late John Wallace Brown and Lillian Mae Dunlavey Brown.
Richard graduated from Harborcreek High School, Class of 1942.
He worked first as a dairy farmer, and then for Operating Engineers Local 66.
Richard was a member of the Broken Straw Club, and was a lifetime member of the Pioneer Gas and Steam Engine Club. His hobbies included restoring tractors, and keeping his homestead looking neat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Rhoda.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Dorothy Shindledecker Brown, her five children, Lee Belovarac (Alan), Doreen Bolen (Jim), James Pitonyak (Lori), Mary Lints (Greg), and Philip Pitonyak (Denise); and 11 grandchildren: Scott Turk, Brian Turk (Mary Beth), Brian Matthew Belovarac, Dr. Brendan Belovarac, Allison Hellman (Scott), Rachel Pitonyak, Sarah Welch (Nick), Miles Lints (Nicole), Molly Little (Christian), Benjamin Pitonyak, Chelsea Pitonyak, a special nephew, Dr. Thomas Miller (Carie), and great grandchildren Logan, Noah, Ryder, and Nora.
Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Road, on Friday October 13th from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial immediately following in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
