Richard H. (Whitey) Allin age 87, of Erie and formerly of New Jersey, went to be with his wife on their anniversary date, June 3, 2015, from St. Vincent Heath Center.
Whitey was born on November 10, 1927 in Bloomfield, NJ, a son of the late Howard H. and Florence Helrigel Allin.
In 1961 he moved to Indian Lake in Denville, NJ. In 1985 he moved to Brielle, NJ. He and his wife Jean moved to Erie, PA in 2010. Mr. Allin was an Army veteran and served in Korea. He was a self-employed welding contractor in New Jersey, and also served as Project Coordinator working projects in Dallas, Seattle, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Middletown, NY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jean to whom he was married to “forever”; two brothers: Eldon and Thomas Allin; a sister, Carol Leach.
He is survived by a son, John Allin and his wife Peggy of Erie, a daughter, Kathy Allin of Cambridge Springs, two grandchildren, Jessica Lynne Short (PJ) of Erie and Matthew Richard Allin (Sarah) of KS; and one Great Grandchild, Issac Short and many nieces, nephews, and good old friends.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) Erie on Saturday June 6th from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Duane Pinney, of Washington Valley Christian Church officiating.
