Raymond Mucha, Jr., 77, of Erie, passed away December 16, 2022, at UPMC Hamot Hospital.
Raymond was born April 8, 1945 in Indiana, PA, son of Raymond Mucha, Sr. and Erma Sherbine.
He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, class of 1962. Raymond served his country in the U.S. Marines and worked for the City of Erie Iron Workers Local 348 for many years. He did roofing, siding and pretty, much anything you needed done. He was a coach for the City of Erie County Special Olympics for over 30 years. Raymond enjoyed getting involved with the kids and was an ice guard at the Erie Ice Rink for the Special Olympic kids. He started the first horseshoe league many years ago at the VFW on West 26th St. and was a member of the Zukor Club and was a Flammer for many years. Raymond loved hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, and ice skating and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed creating and tending a garden every year and had a green thumb for plants and flowers.
He was a kindhearted, caring person who was always there to help. As a brother, he was loving, caring, and kindhearted. My heart is broken, and he will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Jean Allen, and a brother, Frank Gorney.
Raymond is survived by sisters, Shirley Morrison and Stella Thompson as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
