Raymond Kovalesky

Raymond J. Kovalesky, age 74, of Millcreek, passed away Sunday November 18, 2012 at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 21, 1938, a son of the late Vincent "Bill" and Catherine Ribovich Kovalesky.

Raymond was a 1956 graduate of Erie Tech Memorial High School. He then attended the University of Detroit and later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master's Degree in Education. He was a teacher in the Erie School District retiring in 1993 after 25 1/2 years of service.

Raymond was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church. He enjoyed golfing at Riverside, and was also a member of the Siebenbuerger Club and the Sportsmen's Club. Raymond was an avid vegetable gardener and Duke basketball fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Arlene Agnew Kovalesky; a son, Raymond Kovalesky and his wife Leslie of Wheeling, WV; and two daughters, Karen Kovalesky-Miranda of Cape Coral, FL and Valerie Kovalesky-Cooper and her husband Rob of Harrisburg, PA. Five grandchildren, Kaylee and Raymond Kovalesky of Wheeling, WV, Lola Miranda of Cape Coral, FL, and Allison and Timothy Cooper of Harrisburg, PA; and two step-grandchildren, Jordan and Tyler Porter of Wheeling, WV also survive.

Services are private at the convenience of the family and are entrusted to Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street Erie, Pa. 16506.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
