Raymond “Huggy Bear” Huggins, age 99 of Erie, PA, formerly of Middle Grave Creek Rd., Moundsville, WV died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in LECOM Senior Living Center in Erie.
He was born March 12, 1918 in Wileyville, WV the son of the late Henry Nelson and Levina Jane Goddard Huggins.
Raymond was a WWII Army Medical Corp. veteran, having served in the Phillipines; a former employee with both Fostoria Glass and WV State Penitentiary; and a member of Cedar Avenue Church of Christ, American Legion, and VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mazie Huggins; a son, James Nelson Huggins; two brothers, Melvin and Harley Huggins; and sisters, Virginia “Bessie” Agoston, Deliah Morris, Goldie Potts, and Emmador Huggins.
Survivors include a son, Roger (Kathy) Huggins of Erie; daughter-in-law, Chris Huggins of St. Clairsville, OH; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00 PM -7:00 PM at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, 728 W. Ninth St., Erie and on Sunday from 2:00 PM -6:00 PM at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, WV where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM with Evang. Tony Huntsman and Evang. Brian Price officiating.
Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park, Sherrard, WV.
