Raymond Furst

Raymond G. Furst age 58 of Erie, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Erie on November 11, 1958 a son of Catharine Stumpf Furst and the late David Furst. Ray graduated from McDowell High School and was an active volunteer at the Erie Art Museum before his illness.

Ray had a very gentle spirit and considered everyone a friend. He was very kind and truly cared about his family and friends.

Ray was an artist and enjoyed music and playing his guitar. He was also a collector of many different items, but especially enjoyed collecting baseball cards, stamps and coins. He was always looking for the right treasures to pass on to those he cared about.

In addition to his mother he is survived by a sister, Barbara Tyler and her husband Butch, a brother, David Furst and his wife Erminie all of Erie; niece Gina Furst of Erie and nephews Derek Furst of Erie and Kent Furst of Cleveland.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon and are invited to attend services on Saturday at 1:00 pm at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 3968 Hershey Road Erie PA 16506 with Pastor Ron Freebourn officiating.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
