Raymond J. Fomich, age 102, of Erie, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Irwin, PA on July 31, 1918, the son of the late Joseph and Frances Kudroshoff Fomich.
Ray served in the Army Air Corp during WW II as a mechanic.
He and his brother Charles owned and operated Fomich Brothers Garage for over 60 years.
In his younger years, he played basketball, football and the bugle. He was an avid golfer, having played into his late nineties.
Ray was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity Russian Old Believers Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Violet Smith, Martha Petroff, Kaya Lupo, Mary Yokoff; and brothers, Peter, Fred, Jack and Charles Fomich.
Ray is survived by his wife Karen (Kuzmin) Fomich; a daughter, Frances Fomich (Jim Fouch) of Erie; and a son, Metrovon Fomich (Charlotte) of Slidell, LA; and a sister, Pearl Sabetti of Erie. He is further survived by 4 grandchildren, Allison, Katrina, Joanna and Marie; along with 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Church of the Holy Trinity Russian Old Believers Church, 227 Holland St., on Saturday from 3-5 PM and are invited to attend Funeral Services there on Sunday at 9:00 AM.
Burial to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Station Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church’s Building Fund.
