Raymond Diehl

April 22, 1945 — August 6, 2013

Raymond Lawrence Diehl, age 68, of West Springfield, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness..

He was born in Erie on April 22, 1945 a son of the late Ernest and Doris Lasch Diehl.

He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1963.

Raymond served for 6 years in the United Stated Navy and was on the USS Independence during the Vietnam War.

Upon his return from the service, Raymond worked for Bessemer R.R and Parker White Metal before securing a job at PennDOT for 18 years. He then had E.S. Diehl and Son and then was co-owner of Springfield Plastics in 1988 until his retirement when he went on to serve as Springfield Supervisor from 2008 to 2012.

He and his wife Marjorie owned and operated RayMar Framing on Stone from 2004 until present.

He was a member of the American Legion, and served as Royal Ranger Commander at the Assembly of God in Conneaut, OH and was a member of the Federated Church for several years.

Raymond was a lifelong bowler, enjoyed traveling, boating, golf, playing softball, hunting, fishing, gardening. He was an avid sportsman especially watching the Cleveland Indians. As a young father he coached little league baseball and little gridders football.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother in law, Max Shull, his mother and father in law, Allen and Esther Stoddard, a son in law Andy Seneta and his dog Pepper.

He is survived by his wife Majorie Diehl; his children, Pam Anderson and her husband Morris of GA, Rhonda Keith and her husband Troy of Northeast, PA, Georgianne (Ann) Iannucci and her husband Sean of NJ and Raymond W. Diehl of Butler, PA; a brother, David Diehl and his wife Judy; a sister Karen Ylissari; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Jake, Jaret, Rodney, Marissa, Shane and Zoey; and his dog Bella Rose. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home 525 Main Street East Girard, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev Ed. Huntley officiating. Burial in Springfield Cemetery.
