Randolf Rankin age 81 of Erie, died Saturday April 16, 2016 at Golden Living Western Reserve. He was born in Hattiesburg, MS on June 11, 1934 a son of the late James and Lillie Watson Rankin. He graduated from High School in Mississippi and then had vocational training in equipment operation. After moving to Erie Randy worked with Duggan’s Appliance for many years before becoming a social worker with the Martin Luther King Center and the Booker T. Washington Center. He loved sports and especially Cleveland teams. He was an avid fisherman and in earlier days was a noted wrestler. He also enjoyed watching old western movies. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters; Buddy Rankin, Eddie Lee Rankin, Leroy Rankin and Louise Rankin Ratcliff. In addition to his beloved partner Judith, he is survived by his children; Thomas Gore and his wife Rebecca of Erie, Sheila Graves and her husband Marcus of Erie, Lisa Karo and her husband Peter of Virginia Beach, VA, Douglas Gore, Maria Peavy and her husband Stacy, Randy Rankin and his wife Donna of Erie, Yolanda Rankin, Jennifer Rankin, Julie Rankin and Cookie Moore all of Erie. He also leaves a daughter-in-law Geneva Gore along with 37 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West 10th Street, Erie, Pa. 16502 on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 3:00 pm till the time of services there at 5:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the family C/O Burton Funeral Home.
