Ralph served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was stationed with SHAEF Headquarters from 1942-1946 during World War II. Upon returning from the service, he graduated from Millcreek High School in 1948 and received his associate’s business degree from Gannon College. Ralph's 40 year career was in the grocery business starting with Cook's Market in Millcreek. Then he worked with Loblaws where he was a district manager responsible for 13 stores before his retirement in 1987. During the 1950’s he was active in the Auxiliary Millcreek Police Department.
Ralph and his wife Margaret were long time members of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. He was a loving husband, great father and adored his grandsons. When he was younger he always enjoyed hunting. However, even more he loved being retired, always offered encouragement and support to his wife while she tended her gardens and enjoyed snacking on Hershey miniature candy bars. Ralph would tell stories of his duties and experiences during the war in London, England, and as the war ended he spent his time in Germany.
It was in London where he met Margaret who would later move to the United States with him and become his wife of 52 years.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Margaret L. Trusler Suscheck on May 16, 2005, a brother Ed Suscheck and a sister Eleanor Monocello.
