Ralph “Jack” Snyder, age 86, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday September 28, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in West Springfield on September 15, 1930 a son of the late John L. and Gertrude Snow Snyder Clisby.
Ralph graduated from West Springfield High School in 1949. He served in Germany as a corporal in the U.S Army during the Korean conflict. Ralph worked at General Partitions as a foreman, retiring in 1994 after 37 years.
He was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard, a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Cursillo and the Girard American Legion. Jack enjoyed hunting, cooking, gardening and canning.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Anita Reichel Snyder, his children: Susan M. Leopold and her husband James of Fairview, Victoria Snyder-Schultz and her husband, Eric of Millcreek, Thomas Snyder and his wife, Marcia of Girard, Amy K. McGhee and her husband, Mark of Ft. Myers, FL, Cecelia A. Shope and her husband Dave, and Michael J. Snyder and his wife Lee, both of Lake City; a sister, Marjorie Godenschwager of Conneaut, OH and two brothers, Ronald Snyder (Barb) of Valley, WA, and Donald Snyder of TX; he is further survived 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial on Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church,101 Olin Ave. at 10 a.m with Fr. Bill O’Brien celebrant.
Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Girard with full military honors.
