Ralph "Butch" Gordon Peelman, Jr.

Ralph “Butch” Gordon Peelman Jr., age 74 of Erie passed away on Tuesday March 4, 2025 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born in Erie on December 4, 1950 to the late Ralph Gordon Sr. and Dolores Sourwine Peelman.

He graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1969 and earned an electrician degree from Erie Institute of Technology. Butch worked as a welder for 23 years at General Electric, later he worked at Riley Stoker. He was a Ham Radio operator, and his call sign was KB3MI and enjoyed talking on his CB Radio, with the call sign of Hollow Point. He was a member of the Gem City Gun Club, taking 3rd Place in the 1986-1987 Western NY and PA Pistol League. Butch was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an uncle, John Case and a grandson, Drew Shumac.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 32 years, Christine M. Adams Peelman; 5 daughters, Melissa Peelman, Vicki Nowak (Scott), Raina Potts, Amy Jo Shumac and Berta Potts all of Erie; 2 sons, Ralph G. Peelman III of FL and Robert Potts Jr. (Karen) of Erie; ex-wife, Diane Smith Peelman of Erie; and 4 sisters, Debbie Rihel (Ken) of Erie, Charlene Lintz of Sherman, NY, Darlene Seeking (Monty) of Clymer, NY and Cindy White (Cary) of Ripley, NY. He was known as The Best Poppa to his 16 grandchildren including his hunting buddy Jordon Potts and 9 great grandchildren. He’s further survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to his granddaughter Danielle Griffith, for being at the hospital everyday providing love, care and support.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by the family on May 25, 2025 at Noon on Freeport Beach in North East, PA.
