Ralph J. “Butch” Colvin III. age 57, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Alleghany General Hospital.
He was born in Erie on August 27, 1956 a son of Ralph Jr. and Jean Pollock Colvin of Erie.
He graduated from Strong Vincent High School. Ralph was employed at Bay City Forge
for 33 years.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
He was an avid sports fan of all sports especially Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco Giants.
He is preceded in death by grandparents; Ralph Sr. and Mabel Colvin and James and Mary Pollock; a brother in law, David Hawley; and a grandmother in law, Anna Hynes.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Susan Hawley Colvin whom he married on July 23, 1977; two daughters, Pamela Colvin and Rechelle Colvin and her fiancé Chuck Bynum; four grandchildren, Marissa, Trevor, Skylar, and Jayden (J.J.); two brothers, James L. Colvin, and Dennis M. Colvin and his wife Melanie; one sister, Melody Litzenberg and her husband Ward; his in laws, Richard Hawley and Dolores Hawley Zeigler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street Erie, Pa 16506 on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Moran officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St., Erie, PA 16505, or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL, Memphis, TN 38105.
