Rachel (Miozzi) Metz, age 100, of Erie passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021.
She was born in Erie on November 7, 1921. She is the daughter of the late Thomas and Pasquelina (Martino) Metz.
After graduating from Strong Vincent High School in 1939, she began her working career at State Workman’s Compensation Office and later worked at USF&G Insurance Company for many years as an inside claims adjuster.
Rachel enjoyed spending her leisure time with her sisters and traveling. She visited many countries in Europe as well as many recreational spots in the United States. Although most people were not aware, Rachel loved popular music, singing childhood songs and dancing daily in the privacy of her home. She rarely missed watching The Lawrence Welk Show as well as its reruns. She was an avid bowler and had belonged to a league for many years. Rachel was a life long member of St. Paul’s RC Church. In her later life she lived at Westlake Assisted Living and enjoyed singing “old songs” and playing bingo with other residents.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Nardi, Margaret Miozzi, Carmelita Morabito, Viola Metz, Amelia Patsy and Edith Grignol; her brother, John Metz; and niece, Gayle Mary Nardi.
Rachel is survived by her nephews, Donald Patsy (Carol), George Grignol (Linda), and Paul Morabito; nieces, Marcia Brazus and Marlene Schreiber (Tom); as well as many great and great- great nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. Paul’s RC Church, 1611 Walnut St. from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum.
