Portia M. Bivens

Portia M. Bivens, age 61, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at UPMC Hamot Hospital.

Portia was born on June 13, 1962, in Meadville, to the late Myrtle Bivens.

Portia attended East High School. She was an amazing cook and avid reader. If Portia wasn’t playing games on her phone, she was probably watching CSI or another crime show. She was a natural nurturer and loved to babysit. Most of all, she was encouraging, sweet and wise. Portia had a way to make everything OK.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her sister, Lolita Flemings.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Sierra Woodard, of Pittsburgh, Zachary Phillips, Juliann Phillips and Jermaine Barnes, all of Erie; sisters, Rae Ann Jaycox and Dana Woodson; grandchildren, Kennedy, Zaevion and Zahava and Bobby Jeeter. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews.
