Phillip J. Soos, age 82, of Transfer, died at UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
He was born in Sharon, PA on August 11, 1936, a son of the late John and Mary (Tomko) Soos.
A lifelong dairy farmer, Phillip lived and worked on his family farm in South Pymatuning Township since 1939. He was of catholic faith having attended the former Sacred Heart Parish for many years and also attended Sharpsville schools. He was hardworking, trustworthy and very independent. When his farming work was finished in his later years, he became wonderfully involved in all family events. He was a beloved brother, uncle, great uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosemarie Horstman, Dorothy Burnett and brother, Coleman Soos.
Survivors include six nephews and two nieces: Howard (Nancy) Horstman, Joyce Horstman, Dan Horstman, Theresa (Ron) Cole, Mark (Karen) Horstman, Steve and Coleman Soos and Bill (Dawn) Burnett in addition to many, many great nieces and nephews. Phillip is survived by many cousins from the Tomko family as well.
Friends and family may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146 on Monday, January 14 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Tom Whitman
as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hermitage, PA.
