Philip F. Montowski, age 72, of Erie, passed away on Friday, August, 15, 2014 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He was born in Cleveland, OH on September 24, 1941 a son of Felix and Regina Bobrowski Montowski.
Philip was a graduate of Gilmour Academy High School and then attended John Caroll University and graduated from Kent State University with Bachelor’s Degrees in Business and Finance. He worked at General Motors retiring in 1986 after 30 years as a purchasing Manager. He was active in ROTC and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Polish Falcons and the Zukor Club. He also loved flying planes, traveling and attending Polish Festivals. He was an avid Browns and Indians Fan and loved Nascar and Indy cars. Philip also attended Our Lady of Peace Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Monty of Cleveland, Ohio.
He is survived by his former wife and life loving companion, Virginia (Frost) Montowski of Erie, Pa., four cousins; John Spernoga and his wife Virginia Ann of St. Louis, MO, Mary Anne Thomsen of Denver, CO, Chester Monti of Cleveland, OH and Michael Manka of Orlando, FL; a sister-in-law, Jean Monty and a niece Lisa Monty of Cleveland, Ohio. Many friends also remain including his best friend Philip Trejchel.
Services will be held in Ohio later in the week at Golubski Deliberato Funeral Home, 4747 Turney Rd., Garfield Heights, Ohio 44125.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Garfield Heights, Ohio.

Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, PA 16502 is in charge of local arrangements.
