Peter Husted

Peter S. Husted left this world on Thursday, July 6, 2017.

He was born on December 22, 1931 to James D. Husted and Agnes Lorei Husted.

Growing up some of his best summers were spent at his Aunt and Uncle’s farm with his cousins.

Dad attended St. Joseph School and Academy High School but he never finished. He decided to serve his country with the United States Airforce in the Korean Conflict. When he returned to the states he met the love of his life, and they were wed on June 18, 1955.

Dad was very proud of the time he served in the Air Force Association. He was instrumental in organizing some of the greatest Air Shows the city of Erie has ever seen.

He was a life member of the American Legion, and past Commander of Post #773, past Chet De Gare of the 40&8, and a proud member of the Canadian Legion branch #101.

Later in life Dad enjoyed working at the Bicentennial Tower, he so loved meeting and talking to people from all over this country, but what he really loved was his morning bull sessions with Bob, Sam, and many more of the fisherman who would come in for coffee.

Dad was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Elsie Laskey Husted who died in 2006, his parents and mother and father-in-law; brother Jim, sisters Donna Murray, Shirley Colley and infant sister Janet; along with his brothers-in-law Will and Walter Laskey.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Cindy Husted, Janet (Michael) Mioduszewski;  grandchildren, Serena Schodt and Peter Mioduszewski, brother Dennis (Therese) Husted, brother-in-law, John (Sara) Laskey, sister-in-law, Rose Laskey, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Peter is further survived by two very dear friends Henry and Jean Makrocki of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday July 9, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West Ridge Road (at Powell Ave). Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home beginning at 7:00 p.m. by the American Legion Post #773 Honor Detail.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday July 14^th, 10:00 am at St. Joseph Bread of Life Catholic Church, 147 W. 24^th St., with Fr. Larry Richards presiding. Burial will be private at a later date.
