Peter Hess

Peter G. Hess Jr., 82, passed away Wednesday, November 30,2022 at the VA Long Term Care center. He was born January 22, 1940 in Erie and was the son of the late Peter G. Hess and Frances (Santi) Hess.

He served in the US Marine Corps from 1957-1959 and after his discharge he worked for Lakeshore Lumber in Erie.  He also worked for Lyons Transportation Lines for many years until his retirement. Peter met many of his good friends at Lyons. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially hunting. He had a hunting camp in Ludlow for many years that he and his late father-in-law, Michael Wozniak built. He also  traveled to Alaska and New Finland to hunt moose and bear.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Barbara, Rose Hess Welton, and a daughter Mary Ann Hess.

He is survived by his siblings Donna, Michael, Diane, and Bobby.  He is survived by his first wife Michele Wozniak Hess who he referred to as “the love of his life.” His daughter Kristin Ann Hess and his beloved granddaughter Kathryn Grace Hess, who was a delightful part of his life. We were blessed to have him live up the street from us for these past 10 years. Survived by grandchildren Laura (Matt) Johnson, Corey Frost (Cori) and great- grandchildren Max and Lily Johnson, and Hadley Frost. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
