Pauline Shesterenko

Pauline Kuvshinikov Shesterenko, age 80, of Erie, died on Saturday March 30, 2013. She was born March 8, 1933 in Smolensk, Russia, the only daughter of the late Mykola and Claudia Mishokova Kuvshinikov.

Pauline moved to the United States with her parents and six younger brothers at the age of 17. She met her husband Robert at church shortly thereafter. They devoted their lives to God and attended church regularly. They are currently members of First Alliance Church. Pauline's strong Christian faith sustained her through many trials and health issues that she struggled with throughout much of her life. Pauline was a loving mom and was passionate about each of her grandchildren. She would often minister to others with her gift of gracious hospitality. Those who knew her were blessed by her loving kindness and compassionate caring ways.

She worked at Saint Vincent Health Center for many years in their cafeteria, in food preparation. She retired in 1968.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Robert; her daughter Lidia Giles and her husband Michael of Edinboro; her son Paul Shesterenko and his wife Donna of Edinboro; and four grandchildren Bethany and Kelly Giles and Jason and Nikole Shesterenko. She is further survived by six brothers, Alexsy Kuvshinikov and his wife Elodia, Baisel Kuvshinikov and his wife Diane, Alexander Kuvshinikov and his wife Nadia, Nick Kuvshinikov and his wife Lugy, George Kuvshinikov and his wife Nina and Michael Kuvshinikov and his wife Diane. Pauline is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26 Street (at Powell Ave.) on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to a funeral service on Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home with Michael Kuvshinikov officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
