Pauline J. Rakowski

Pauline J. Rakowski, a resident of Old Orchard Subdivision, Fairview, PA, passed away at her residence on Tuesday January 30, 2024.  She was the daughter of Margaret Calhoun Bleakney of Kittanning, PA.

A “Cum Laude” graduate of Kittanning High School, she worked briefly for the FBI in Washington DC prior to her marriage on September 3, 1949 to Edmund S. Rakowski of Erie, PA.  In later years, she was employed as an assistant to the Controller of the then Geriatric Center and for fifteen years as Assistant Director of the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center.  After retirement she and her family owned and operated Wishmore Farm in western Erie County; featuring chrysanthemums, specialty Polish tomatoes as well as other herbs, vegetables and Christmas Trees.  A Gift Shoppe was also part of the Wishmore Farm enterprise.  She also worked as the Platea Boro Tax Collector for many years.

Pauline was preceeded in death by her beloved husband, Edmund S. Rakowski in 1996 and her beloved son; Edmund M. Rakowski.  She is survived by her son, Theodore A. Rakowski (Judy) of Erie, PA and her daughter, Joan Marie Rakowski (Paul) of Fairview, PA; three grandchildren, Sarah Rakowski Lentz (Joshua) of Wilmington, NC, Jason Rakowski (Katie) of Girard, PA and Patrick Rakowski (Christina) of Girard, PA; four great grandsons, Tyler, Jackson and twins, Lucas and Jacob Rakowski; and two great granddaughters, Athena Grace and Helena Jane Rakowski; her brother Albert (Sonnie) Bleakney (Betty) of Kittanning, PA and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements were handled by the Burton Funeral Home at the convenience of the family.  Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
