Paul A. Sieber passed away surrounded by family on Saturday December 12, 2015. He was born January 21, 1927 in Erie PA to the late Albert and Louise Sieber.
Paul graduated from Erie Tech High School where he was a standout football player and played in the first Save An Eye football game. He served in the United States Army during the Korean war. Paul purchased McCarty Printing in 1954 and became President in 1967 holding that position until his retirement in 1995. Paul was extremely proud of his Company that will be celebrating 100 years in business in 2016. He was still an active advisor and mentor to his children and grandchildren, many of whom continue to work at the family business. During his tenure at McCarty Printing he founded Walco Label and Packaging in 1967, and Kimkopy Printing in 1990. He also purchased the Ashby Publishing Company which has been producing calendars since 1895.
He was an avid golfer, hunter and lover of the outdoors. Paul was a member of both The Kahkwa Club in Erie since 1966 and Innisbrook Resort and golf club in Palm Harbor, Florida. He was also fortunate enough to be able to be in his favorite hunting area (Cherry Grove) during this just concluded PA deer season with his nephew Jimmy Sieber and close friend Richard Crabb. He was a very active member of the community belonging to Zem Zem Shrine, Arab Patrol, Royal order of Jesters, Commonwealth Lodge #695 F.&A.M (Past Master 1966), Quarter Club of Erie, Erie Maennerchor and Ludlow Sportsman's Club. Paul was also one of many long suffering Cleveland Browns fans, passing along the passion for them to his children and grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his former wife and lifelong close friend Audrey R. Sieber. He was also preceded by brothers Albert, Carl, Donald, Fred and Herman and by sisters Bertha, Clara and Louise.
Paul is survived by his longtime companion and significant other Marian Kubeja, his sons Donald S. Sieber (Laure), Paul F.(Derf) Sieber (Sandy) and his daughters Lisa A. Watkins (Ramon) and Kimberly A. Wykoff (Mark). He is also survived by his grandchildren Brandon Sieber (Kelly), Dr. Brady Sieber (Danielle) and Derek Sieber (Emily), Kelsie Watkins, Evan Watkins and Audrie Watkins. He also has two great grandchildren both of whom were born earlier this year, Hudson Sieber and Kennedy Sieber. Paul is also survived by his brother Edward Sieber, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Tuesday from 3pm to 8pm with a Masonic Service at 7pm at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (At Powell Ave.) and are invited to the service on Wednesday December 16, 2015 at 11am with Rev. Keith McGarvey of South Harborcreek United Methodist Church officiating.
