Paul C. Nunes, Sr.

Paul C. Nunes, Sr., age 96, of Erie passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at AHN St. Vincent. He was born May 31, 1928 in Erie the son of the late Paul L. and Mildred (Jones) Nunes. 

Paul was a graduate of Strong Vincent high school and Gannon College. He had served in the US Navy during WW II. Paul founded Nunes Associates, a manufacturer’s agency in 1959 and he retired from there in 2001. He was also a partner of Pyramid Realty Co. in 1970.

Paul was active in the Sertoma club, Children’s Welfare Association, St. Vincet Board of Corporators. He was a life member of the former Erie Maennerchor club and for over 60 years belonged to the Erie Yacht club and was past commodore of the South Shore Yacht club and also belonged to the Kahkwa club. Paul enjoyed swimming, music and sailing.

In retirement he became active in volunteering at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic church, the Erie VA Medical center, PA Soldiers and Sailors Home, and at St. Vincent Hospital. Paul was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a son, Paul Nunes, Jr.; two daughters, Maria Ann Nunes and Roxanne Swanson; a stepdaughter Corinne Bille; along with the mother of his children, Barbara Fries.

Paul is survived by a son, Gerard (Jerry) Nunes (Theresa); the love of his life, Sally Nunes; four grandchildren; and two brothers; Ronald Nunes (Jean) of Mentor, OH and David Nunes (Anne) of Panama City, FL.

There will be no visitation. A memorial mass at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic church will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
