Paul James “Jim” Greenaway, age 64, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, following an extended illness.

He was born in Erie, on March 19, 1951, a son of Samuel and Nancy Wersing Greenaway of Fairview.

He graduated from Fairview High School in 1969 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Gannon University. His career was in information technology.

Jim loved boating, sky diving and snorkeling. He was a true gentleman with a gentle spirit; one who was kind and generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara A. Greenaway in 1996.

In addition to his parents, Jim is survived by a step son, Patrick Wardell; three sisters: Karen Lipinski and her husband Mark, Nancy Johnson and her husband Chris, and Susan Greenaway; a brother, Dan Greenaway and his wife Ellen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday at Holy Cross Church, 7100 W. Ridge Rd. in Fairview from 9-11 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11am with Reverend Tom Tyler officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Saturday at 9:30 am.

Arrangements entrusted to Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard.
