Paul Goodwin

Paul “Duke” R. Goodwin, 86, of Lake City, passed peacefully on Wednesday February 6, 2025, at LECOM Senior Living.

He was born in Erie, PA on June 30, 1938, the third son of the late Paul W. and Helen (Shultz) Goodwin. 

After graduating from Rice Avenue Union High School, Paul proudly served in the US Army. He returned home to work on the family farm with his father and brother William. Together they built a successful business, known for their vegetables and greenhouses. 

Paul married the love of his life, Debra Beerbower, in 1989. Together they enjoyed life, whether it was travelling, getting together with friends or just hanging out at home. Paul was an active member of IOOF. He enjoyed time at the senior center and playing cards. He loved the Chicago Bears and Penn State Football. Duke always remained positive no matter what obstacles he encountered. He laughed from his heart, you couldn’t help but laugh with him. 

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife Debra, his brothers William & David, and his sisters-in-laws Arlene and Janet. He is survived by his brother Donald, nieces Candy Crone and Lynn Ramsey, and nephews David, William and Barry Goodwin – all who have great memories of growing up with Uncle Duke.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Wednesday February 12, 2025, from 10:00am until the time of the service 11:00am. Private burial at Girard Cemetery.

 The family would like to thank to the staff LECOM Senior Living for their care of Paul, with a special nod to Jen and Emily, and to Pastor Debbie Rimmer for her never ending support and love.
