Paul Davis

January 26, 1934 — February 19, 2022

 “Pete” Arden Davis, 88 of the Millcreek/Fairview area and formerly the Edinboro area passed away Friday, February 18th 2022.  Born in Erie to the late Theodore and Helen Satterle Davis.  Paul lost his battle from complications of type 1 Diabetes, with which he struggled for over 67 years.

Paul graduated from Millcreek High School in 1952.  He loved working alongside his brothers and father in the carpentry industry Paul, and consequently passed up a college scholarship to become a plasterer.  Paul later became a Union Carpenter and was well-known in the commercial construction field. He was a very hard-working man. 

Paul attended Villa Maria College where he took a watercolor painting course taught by Sister Marie Spaeder. He became quite an accomplished artist.

Paul married Janice Gemler Volkman with whom he raised 7 children. After her death, he later married Joan Chartley Bierley, (his high school sweetheart) November 11, 1994.

Paul enjoyed golf, travel, gardening, doing puzzles and his artwork.  He was always on the move and really loved life.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Theodore, his brothers Everett (Meredith), Ted (Theresa), Lyle (Johanna), Norman (Joyce), and Dewey Davis (Ruth) and a sister Alegra Rys (Richard). He also lost a daughter Michelle Davis (Walter Walker).

Paul is survived by his wife Joan, and his children; Allan H. Volkman (Tina), Dana Volkman (Kim), Sheryl Pennock (Robert), Stacy Davis, Ted Davis, Anne Miller (Carl) and Amy McInchak (Mac). His Grandchildren; Ryan, Holly, Kyle (Julia), and Tyler (Jasa) Volkman.  Jessica, Destiny, Sara, Drummer (TrishVolze) and Zyla Volkman.  Blake Pennock (Amy), Chelsea Mercier (Justin) and Jheran Carter (Greg). Michael Crotty (Emily) and Matthew Crotty (Jessica Zeiber), Patrick Miller (Shaysa), Luke Miller (Jaimie), and Benjamin Miller (Joanne).  His Great Grandchildren; Lila and Nolan Mercier, Colton and Camden Pennock, Emerson Carter, Bryce and Alex Wardrop, Lilly Dixon, Lucas Volkman, Achilles and Hudson Volkman, Dakota, Austin and Kailyn Volze and Zane Volkman. Declan, and Ellery Miller, Georgianna Sutherland (Kyle), Nicholas and Zachary DeCarmine, and Emma Miller, Sadie, William and Sophia Miller.  Ava, Ana and Ada Crotty, and other close children; Logan and Livia Zieber, Mason and Maddy Frombach.  He is also survived by his lovable cat Sydney, who stayed by his side.

A heartfelt thank you to all his dedicated caregivers at Niagara Village who went above and beyond.

There will be no visitation. A Roman Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 26th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church 2401 West 38th Street.  Internment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
