Paul Bacik Jr., age 90, a lifetime resident of Fairview, passed away on Tuesday March 11, 2025, at Manchester Commons.
He was born in Erie on September 1, 1934, a son of the late Paul Bacik Sr. and Marie B. Vargo Bacik.
Paul was a graduate of Fairview High School and Erie Electronic School and went on to serve in the United States Army, retired PS4. He worked as a lineman for Penelec for over 35 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a founding member of Holy Cross Church where he served on the building committee, maintenance committee, Holy Name Society and was an usher since the founding of the church. He volunteered to set up for the church's Lenten Fish Fry dinners for many years. Paul was known in the community for helping set up electrical utilities for the Fairview Fireman’s Picnic, the Holy Cross Church Carnival and placing holiday lights throughout the community, attending Fairview School Board, Zoning and Township meetings and helping at the Fairview Food Bank.
He was also a member of the Millcreek, Girard and Fairview American Legions, Edinboro McKean VFW Post 740, Moose Club, Elks Club, Zukor Club and the East Erie Turners. Paul enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid bowler, bowling for McKay Brothers for 30 years and belonging to the 700 Club. He loved sharing the vegetables from his big garden, especially the hot peppers he grew. Paul always enjoyed playing a few practical jokes and telling stories about anything and everything.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Lachowski Bacik; a son, Steven Bacik; and a sister, Betty Bacik.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Jean (Rocca) Bacik; two daughters, Sandra Bacik and Valerie Bacik; a son, Michael Bacik and his wife Roberta; two stepchildren, Will Rocca and his wife Allison and Stephen Rocca and his wife Diane; a brother Richard Bacik; two sisters, Donna Tudor and Beverly Blose; four grandchildren, Anthony, Kathryn, Ashton and Audrianna; eight step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Holy Cross Church 7100 West Ridge Road on Monday March 17th from 3:00pm until 7:00pm and attend services there on Tuesday at 10:00AM with Father Thomas Tyler celebrating with full Military Honors. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
