Paul Raymond Adams, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021 after an extended battle with cancer.
Paul was born on July 6, 1930 in Rocky Grove, PA, the son of the late Mabel (Hause) and Earl Adams.
He attended Rocky Grove High School where he met his sweetheart, Beverly Lorraine Byrd and they married August 14, 1948. In 1952 he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served as Military Police, Airman First Class at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska until his honorable discharge in 1956.
In 1988, Paul retired from a thirty-five year career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. On January 26, 1978, he was honored for being “the only postal carrier” to complete his entire route during the most severe blizzard in Erie. Temperatures were 4 degrees with a chill factor of 50 below.
Both Paul and his wife were baptized on May 5, 1974 and were active members of First Alliance Church. He served as a building committee member during the original construction in 1976.
Paul’s hobbies and skills included building, wood working, gardening, auto mechanics, and photography. His foremost passion was spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years on December 23, 2001, siblings and their spouses, Earl Adams (Dorothy), Betty Hannah (Foster), Jimmy Adams (infant), Marie Baker (Freeman), Bill Adams, Bob Adams (Jane) and Harold Adams (Anna).
Surviving siblings include Ruth Eakin (Ray-deceased), Jack Adams (Betty), Linda Cochran (Chuck),Judy Bunce (Bill).
He was also preceded in death by his longtime friend and companion, Rose Guilford on February 3, 2019.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Heckler (Harold) of Millcreek, Paul Jr. (Janet) of Longview, TX; three grandchildren, Amy Montano (Ivan), Brett Adams (Rachel), and Kayla Heckler, and two great grandchildren, Hudson and Carson Adams.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street, on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed at www.facebook.com/BurtonQuinnScott Private burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
