Patrick John Bannon, M.D.

Patrick John Bannon, M.D., age 75, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 30, 1949, the son of the late Patrick J. Bannon and Angela Orasin Bannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Daniel Pressley.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Schiavone Bannon; daughter, Caitlin Bannon; stepchildren, Natalie (Christian) Kossbiel, Abigail (Kristopher) Paulson, Vanessa Franc and Jared Franc; by his sister, Kathleen Bannon; six grandchildren, Caiden, William, Summer, Luka, Victoria and Isabel, and additional close friends and family.
Pat was a graduate of Western High School in Washington, DC. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1975. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency as well as a cardiology fellowship at University Medical Center of the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. He began his esteemed career at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL before relocating to Pittsburgh, PA in 1991, to join the Mercy Hospital Medical Staff, where he served as the Director of Non-Invasive Cardiology and Medical Director of the Heart Failure Treatment Program. Dr. Bannon joined the UPMC Hamot Medical Staff in 2006 where he was known around the hospital for his humble nature, wisdom, dedication to patients, unique sense of humor, and infamous coffee cup. He resigned his active appointment in 2023, and gained an honorary status appointment, after nearly 2 decades of service to patients in the northwestern PA region.
Pat’s hobbies included fishing and gardening. He was a gentleman’s farmer with vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed tending to his chickens at home. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Judy, reading, relaxing, and bird watching on the lanai of their Florida home. His most treasured time was when he was surrounded by family, including his six precious grandchildren who he adored.
Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St., Erie, Monday June 10th from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Bread of Life Church, 147 West 24th St., on Tuesday, June 11th at 10 a.m., with Rev. Larry Richards as celebrant. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park at a later date.
