Patricia A. Quirk, 87, a resident of St. Mary’s East, died peacefully January 6, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital following a short illness. Patricia, the daughter of the late Charles Hiller and Helen Bergsten Hiller was a life-long resident of Erie, she was born April 14, 1933.
Patricia “Pat” graduated from Villa Maria Academy in 1951 and St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1954. As a registered nurse she worked at St. Vincent Hospital, The Visiting Nurses Association, and Shriner’s Hospital for Children. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and cooking. Pat was an active member of St. Peter Cathedral, serving on parish council as a member and in several leadership positions on the women’s council.
Pat was married for fifty-one years to William J. “Bill” Quirk, Sr. who passed away in 2011. Pat was pre-deceased by a brother, Carlton “Sonny” Hiller and three sisters: Helen Conyers, Marion Hart and Elizabeth “Bette” Duska.
Pat is survived by five children: Julie Dejarnette and her husband David of Suwanee, GA; William J. “Bill” Quirk, Jr. and his wife Carol of Whitesboro, NY; John Quirk and his wife Wendy of Cedar Park, TX; Elizabeth “Beth” Cullum and her husband Curtis of Evans, GA; James “Jim” Quirk and his wife Tina of Erie. Pat is also survived by ten grandchildren: James Quirk, Jr., Dominic Quirk and Victoria Quirk all of Erie. Anne Quirk and Mary Quirk of Whitesboro, NY; David Dejarnette, Jr., Sarah Dejarnette and Amy Dejarnette of Suwanee, GA; Lauren Quirk-Rembish and her husband Joseph “Joey” of Colorado Springs, CO and Sidney Quirk of Cedar Park, TX. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Leo William Quirk of Erie, PA and John Stephen Rembish of Colorado Springs, CO. Pat had numerous nieces and nephews who survive her along with special friends, Marge Kaminsky, Dan and Janet Nawrocki.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Home in Erie and the staff of St. Vincent Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
Friends may call at the Quinn Funeral Home ,728 W. 9th St. in Erie, on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Cathedral. All CDC guidelines including facemasks and social distancing will be followed. Entombment will be in Mary, Queen of Peace Mausoleum.
