Patricia Ann Heffner

December 26, 1940 — June 6, 2023

Patricia Ann Heffner, beloved wife of Charles Edward Heffner, Jr., passed away on June 6, 2023. Born in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of Edward Huffman and Mary (Gothard) Huffman. Pat was a loving wife and devoted mother to her three daughters, Susan Leslie Martin, Lisa Marie Badz and husband Stan Badz, and Megan Elizabeth Martin; a brother, Edward Huffman and wife Mary Lou; a sister, Susan Ann Huffman and husband Joe Brandon; as well as her grandchildren: Julian Christian Martin, Devon Marie Martin, Keegan Christopher Farver, Logan Stanley Badz, Lola James Badz, Morgan Badz and Aaron Badz.  Patricia graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1958 and earned her BSN degree from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1961. Throughout her nursing career, Pat touched countless lives with her strong empathy and excellent patient care. She spent many years as a PA Registered Nurse, Trauma Nurse, EMT and played an instrumental role in NW Emergency Medical Services Board. When she worked for Dr. Dudenhoeffer, one might say Pat gave allergy shots to half the city of Erie and could cure allergies with a smile and a shot!

Patricia joined West Ridge Fire Department in 1982, eventually becoming Captain of EMS. She received her Honorary in 2017, a testament to her unwavering dedication to serving others. She was also a member of the West Ridge Fire Auxiliary and served as President for several years. In addition to her impressive nursing and firefighting careers, Pat held memberships in the National Honor Society, Strong Vincent High School Alumni, Saint Vincent Nursing School Alumni, Gannon University Alumni and Edinboro University Alumni.

Outside of her professional life, Pat had many hobbies such as gardening, fishing, bird watching, and enjoying police and medical shows on TV. She loved spending her time with loved ones. Her friends often bragged about her unique ability to listen and care for others. One of her friends once said that there were a lot of people walking around on this earth because she was here.

Pat will be dearly missed by her husband and daughters, many nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends and the countless individuals she has helped throughout her life.

The family would like to especially thank Darnelle Moore and Rachael Baker from Promedica Hospice, and all other care givers who have helped, for their care and assistance during this journey.
